Study Spaces Booking Page

dlr Lexicon has 165 designated study spaces on Levels 4 and 5. 

Due to the popularity and high demand, from  Monday 13th April until Saturday 20th of June 2026, you will have to book your study space in advance. 

Study spaces will require booking Monday – Saturday.

Level 3 will remain open to all.

Instructions and Rules for Booking a Study Space in dlr LexIcon 

 

Booking

  • You will need a library card to make a booking. 
  • If you do not have a library card, you can register for a free library card here or at any library once you have a valid photo ID and proof of address. If you are under 18, a parent/guardian must act as a guarantor. This means, they will have to come with you to set up your library card.
  • Spaces are available to book during dlr LexIcon staffed opening hours: Monday - Thursday: 9:30am-8pm and Friday - Saturday: 9:30am-5pm.  
  • Bookings can be made up to 1 week in advance and must be made using our online booking system or in person.  
  • You can book two back-to-back sessions per booking. If you book a third session, this will be considered a separate booking.  
  • Bookings are limited to a maximum of 10 sessions per week (Monday-Saturday). 
  • If the session is full, you can avail of seating on Level 3 pending availability.  

 

Study Spaces

There are 107 spaces on Level 4. These are numbered 001-089 and 142-159. There are also 58 spaces on Level 5, these are numbered 090-141 and 160-165. Please see Study Spaces Map.

  • Monday – Thursday 

Study Spaces are divided in 3 slots: 9:30am-1pm, 1pm-4:30pm, 4:30pm-8pm 

  • Friday – Saturday 

Study Spaces are divided in 2 slots: 9:30am-1pm, 1pm-5:00pm 

Arriving at dlr LexIcon

  • You mustcheck-out your space on arrival with a member of staff with a valid library card. Otherwise, you will lose your booking (see penalties). 

Your Study Space

  • You must sit at the numbered desk/seat you have booked. This will show on your dlr libraries account. 
  • If you sit in a space that is already booked by someone else, you will be asked to move. At all times you are responsible for your own property. Any property left unattended is not the responsibility of staff. 
  • For Health & Safety reasons, the areas around study spaces, bookshelves, aisles and floor space must be kept clear and free of trip hazards. 
  • You must vacate the study space promptly once your designated time slot has ended.  
  • Any belongings left behind after a change of session will be placed in lost property. 

Penalties 

  • If you are more than 20 minutes late for a session, your booking will be cancelled automatically. 
  • Any space left vacant for over an hour may be re-allocated to someone else and any items will be placed in lost property. 
  • If you fail to show up for 2 bookings, your booking privileges will be suspended, and you will have to report to a member of staff before you can make any further bookings. 

 

One library, your library 

The Study Spaces will require booking Monday – Saturday. dlr LexIcon is also open on Sundays 12pm – 4.00pm. However, there is no need to book a study space on Sundays. 

dlr LexIcon is a shared space, with many events and exhibitions taking place. You are requested to respect library staff and other users. Any user not adhering to our Code of Conduct will be asked to leave the premises. 

Remember, if you do not book your study space, we cannot guarantee you one!
