dlr Libraries membership conditions
dlr Libraries are open to everyone. We welcome visitors to browse our collections, view exhibitions or attend library events. To borrow material, use a PC or access our online resources, you need to become a member. Joining the library is free.
You may become a member by registering online or at your local library. You will need to show proof of your name and address at the library. Bring photo ID plus one document showing your current address (eg utility bill, driver’s licence). Any utility bills, etc that you offer as ID will need to have been issued in the last 6 months. Those in temporary accommodation or with no fixed address will need to mention this to library staff when joining and show photo ID.
Membership for children and young adults
You can join at any age but children and young people under the age of 18 must get the permission of a guarantor (parent or guardian) to join the library. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children in the library, and for their children’s selections and use of library materials and services, including access to the Internet and online resources. A parent or guardian must accompany children under 8 years at all times.
Guarantors are required to bring current proof of their address and must accompany new members to the library when registering or collecting new library cards.
Guarantors are responsible for the conduct in the library of those they have guaranteed and any charges they may incur.
Guarantors must review the membership conditions on this page before agreeing to accept and proceed to the membership form.
