Age & Opportunity are delighted to offer Changing Gears in Kilkenny this July and August.

Changing Gears is a free, HSE-funded 5-week programme for people aged 50+ to support wellbeing and resilience during life transitions such as retirement, bereavement, or health changes. 

Through weekly 2½-hour sessions, participants reflect on their experiences, build confidence, develop practical coping skills, and explore positive approaches to ageing and change. Attendance at all sessions is required.

Explore the Past with Digital Tools: A Workshop by Kilkenny Library’s Local Studies Team.  The British Newspaper Archive is now available at Mayfair Library.  This extensive digital collection brings together millions of newspaper pages from across Britain and Ireland, dating back over three centuries and offers a wealth of stories, images, and insights at your fingertips.


Join the Kilkenny Library Local Studies team for an engaging and hands-on workshop exploring the rich world of digital newspaper archives.  Discover how to access and navigate historical newspapers online, uncover local stories, trace family histories, and bring the past to life through digital research tools.

Join Mairín at our Repair Café, where she’ll help you mend and restore your beloved fabric items. Bring along your clothes, linens, or soft furnishings for a mindful repair session! Sewing machines are provided. The Repair Café takes place monthly on the third Wednesday.

Join us for a fun and relaxed craft workshop where children will design and create unique friendship bracelets using a variety of beads, threads, and decorations. Whether you make one for yourself or as a gift for a friend, you'll have the chance to get creative and learn some simple bracelet-making techniques.
