Join Mairín at our Repair Café, where she’ll help you mend and restore your beloved fabric items. Bring along your clothes, linens, or soft furnishings for a mindful repair session! Sewing machines are provided. The Repair Café takes place monthly on the third Wednesday.

We host a monthly film club where members gather to watch and discuss a diverse range of movies. Prior to each viewing, members will be asked to select a film from a list chosen by library staff.  The film club takes place monthly on the third Tuesday.

Get creative this summer and make your very own colourful bracelet!

Join us for a fun and relaxed craft workshop where children will design and create unique friendship bracelets using a variety of beads, threads, and decorations. Whether you make one for yourself or as a gift for a friend, you'll have the chance to get creative and learn some simple bracelet-making techniques.

This workshop is part of the Summer Stars Reading Adventure, so don't forget to visit the library desk and sign up while you're here!

Join us we celebrate Culture Night 2026 in Maynooth Community  Library where Eoghan Burke will lead an introduction to the Bodhran and songs some of the great songs associated with Kildare.

All children attending this event must be accompanied by a parent/ guardian.

Workshop One: Pawn to King 

Tues 21 July, 2.30-5.30pm 

In this first session we will learn the rules for all the pieces on the chess board. By the end of Day One you will know how to play with the Pawn, Rook, Knight, Bishop, King and Queen. 

Workshop Two: Checkmate!

Wed 22 July, 2.30-5.30pm 

During this session we will study check and checkmate, some tricks and tactics, and we will learn how to use the Chess Clock! By the end of Day Two you will be able to play a full game of chess. 

*Please note that participants must be available to attend both workshops: Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 July, 2.30-5.30pm

Registration for the Chess Tournament is separate, and is only suitable for people who have attended the first two sessions or those who already know how to play a full game of chess.
