The Failte Isteach group in Clones allows migrants to our community to practice their English and meet members of the community in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

The group provides a safe space for those who are isolated to connect, for perspectives to evolve, and for attitudes to change.  The informal approach to learning allows the most marginalised in our society to engage with others and truly integrate into their new communities in Ireland.

English speaking volunteers are most welcome to join this lively and friendly group.

A visually rich journey through Ireland’s deep relationship with textiles, from ancient weaving traditions to the lace‑making initiatives that supported rural women after the Famine. Perfect for anyone interested in local history, craft, and culture.

Vawn Corrigan is a Dublin‑based editor and textile‑heritage writer whose work appears in Selvedge Magazine, Irish Arts Review, and Farm & Fiber. She is the author of Irish Aran and Irish Tweed (O’Brien Press). Her talks are warm, visually engaging, and consistently popular with craft communities.

For this Bealtaine Festival event, Jackie Lynam will talk about her unexpected journey to becoming a writer in her forties, and how the decision to listen to her creative voice changed her life. She will read from her book Traces: Poems and Essays which she self-published just before her 50th birthday. She will also recommend her favourite books by other people who have followed their passions and chosen a life less ordinary. 

Jackie Lynam's poems have been published in several journals and anthologies, and she has been shortlisted for the Anthony Cronin International Short Poem Award and RTÉ’s The Prompt writing competition. Her writing has also featured in the Irish Independent and on RTÉ Radio 1’s Sunday Miscellany programme. Her debut chapbook Traces:  Poems and Essays was self-published in 2023, and was longlisted for the 2024 Carousel Aware Prize for Independent Authors. In 2024 she was awarded an Arts Council Agility Award, and she is currently working on a full collection of poetry and a novel.

Anyone who wishes to register for My Open Library must first attend an induction tour. These take place in the library and may take up to 30 minutes. 

You must have a valid Dublin City Libraries card and you must bring a valid age ID (passport, age card etc.)  

You MUST be aged 16 or over to register for this service. A parent or guardian must accompany 16 - 17 year olds to the induction tour and also become an MOL member (each person must book a separate space on the induction tour). 

Under 16s can only access the library during unstaffed hours if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Are you interested in history? Join our new Introduction to History course in Cabra Library this Spring!

This class series is suitable for everyone with an interest in history and heritage. The series will run for 8 weeks, starting on Thursday 19 March from 2pm to 4pm, with a tutor from the CDETB.
